Brechin Cathedral Services Condition Survey

Callidus Design was appointed by The Society of Friends of Brechin Cathedral to carry out a condition survey of the existing electrical and heating installations at the Cathedral.

The Society of Friends of Brechin Cathedral was founded in 1947. The aims of the Society are:

  • The safeguarding of the amenity of the Cathedral
  • The adornment and equipment of the Cathedral and its further endowment
  • The improvement of the music of the Cathedral
  • To make the Cathedral a familiar place of worship

Since its inception, The Society of Friends of Brechin Cathedral have contributed greatly to the fabric and life of the Cathedral including the donation of new stained glass windows, new lighting, display cases, pulpit falls and pew cushions.

Recently the Cathedral was forced to spend a great deal of money repairing the roof. The Society has now decided to commission a number of Condition Surveys, including the structural and architectural aspects of the building, the stain glass windows as well as the electrical and heating systems, the latter being carried out by Callidus Design. The purpose of these surveys is to identify if any major works will be necessary in the near or distant future in order that The Society can focus accordingly on their fundraising activities.
